Investment Officer
Background:
The Investment Officer at the Guyana Office for Investment plays a crucial role in facilitating investments and promoting economic growth in Guyana. Reporting to the Senior Director of Investment, the Investment Officer focuses on attracting local and foreign investors, providing business advisory services, and supporting the development of investment projects across various sectors.
Scope of Work:
The Investment Officer is responsible for marketing investment opportunities, conducting research, identifying prospects, and coordinating workflow within the Investment Department. They serve as a liaison between government and private sector stakeholders, offering advice on investment processes and incentives. Additionally, the Investment Officer assists in project evaluation, facilitates the processing of applications for fiscal incentives, and provides post-investment support to clients. Strong knowledge of Guyana’s economy, policies, and regulations is essential, along with financial analysis skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Research and target potential investors in line with Guyana’s economic priorities.
- Respond to investor inquiries and provide information on investment incentives.
- Maintain a list of investment opportunities in various sectors.
- Analyze investment projects and make recommendations for viability.
- Facilitate the processing of applications for fiscal incentives.
- Assist investors in navigating government procedures and regulations.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify investment opportunities.
- Support marketing efforts to promote Guyana as an investment destination.
- Advocate for policies to improve Guyana’s investment climate.
- Maintain accurate records and assist in the preparation of reports.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Business, or related discipline.
- At least three years of experience in investment facilitation or related field.
- Knowledge of government policies and procedures related to investment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Guyana’s economic sectors, policies, and regulations.
- Experience in project evaluation and financial analysis.
- Ability to speak multiple languages would be an asset.
