Scope of Work:
The Junior Human Resources Officer will support the Human Resources department in various administrative and operational tasks, ensuring the efficient execution of HR processes. This role involves assisting with recruitment, onboarding, employee record maintenance, and providing general administrative support to enhance the overall effectiveness of the HR function within the Guyana Office for Investment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in drafting and posting job advertisements.
- Screen resumes and coordinate interview schedules.
- Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, including preparing orientation materials and conducting initial training sessions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, both in physical files and digital databases.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of employee information.
- Assist in the administration of employee benefits and compensation programs.
- Support the performance appraisal process by tracking evaluation timelines and compiling necessary documentation.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs.
- Coordinate logistics for training sessions and workshops.
- Maintain training records and assist in evaluating the effectiveness of training programs.
- Ensure HR activities comply with local labor laws and organizational policies.
- Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Support initiatives aimed at enhancing workplace culture and employee engagement.
- Assist in addressing employee concerns and resolving conflicts in a fair and consistent manner.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience in an HR or administrative role is an advantage.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Enthusiastic and eager to learn and grow within the HR field.
Skills and Competencies:
- Understanding of basic hiring processes, job postings, screening, and interview coordination.
- Familiarity with public service rules and policies, labor laws, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to handle confidential employee information and maintain HR databases.
- Basic knowledge of leave management, and employee benefits.
- Supporting performance appraisal processes and employee development programs.
- Ability to clearly convey information in both written and verbal formats.
- Handling employee inquiries and resolving minor HR-related issues.
- Maintaining discretion and a supportive approach when dealing with employees.
- Ensuring accuracy in data entry, documentation, and compliance-related tasks.
- Working effectively with HR colleagues and other departments.
- Handling multiple HR tasks efficiently.
- Basic skills in preparing HR reports and analyzing employee data.
- Assisting in the smooth integration of new hires.
- Helping with organizing training sessions and tracking employee learning progress.
