Scope of Work:

The Monitoring Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective implementation and evaluation of all investment agreements issued by the Guyana Office for Investment. This position involves close collaboration with various stakeholders, including government agencies, and private sector entities, to monitor progress, assess outcomes, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular field visits to assess the implementation of investment activities.
  • Develop and utilize monitoring tools to track project progress against established objectives and timelines as outlined on the investment agreement.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data on project performance, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Identify challenges and bottlenecks in project execution and propose actionable solutions.
  • Serve as a primary contact for investors, liaising with government agencies throughout the monitoring process.
  • Maintain regular communication with investors and other stakeholders.
  • Provide technical assistance to government agencies and organizations in implementing project activities.
  • Support the preparation of project work plans, operational strategies, and financial planning processes.
  • Assist in the development of sectorial profiles on investment opportunities in Guyana.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports detailing project assessments, monitoring findings, and evaluation results.
  • Ensure effective organization and maintenance of technical documentation, including studies, designs, and reports.
  • Provide input for drafting various project reports based on monitoring and evaluation efforts.
  • Stay updated with global best practices in investment monitoring and apply relevant insights to the agency’s operations.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project monitoring and evaluation, preferably within investment promotion or economic development sectors.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with Guyana’s economic landscape and investment climate is highly desirable.
