The Parboiled Rice Business
The facility has a capacity of 2,000 Mt of premium parboiled rice per month. It serve4s markets throughout the Caribbean where a 25% premium in prices are obtained by tariff protection under the Caricom Trade Treaty. In addition sales are also made to selected European markets, tariff free, under the current Caricom Economic Partnership agreement. All sales are made under the “Angel” brand, highly recognized in retail sizes in supermarkets throughout the region.

Raw Materials
Guyana is the leading Rice Producer in the region producing more than 1 million Metric ton of paddy every six months. This facility’s location is well positioned and adequately supplied with high quality raw
materials.

Technology
The Facility uses the most efficient technology used in the rice milling business today, ensuring products of the highest quality, high milling yield and energy efficiency. This includes:
– Italian Parboiling Technology – computer controlled processes – the best available.
– Satake Vertical Japanese Rice Milling Technology, computer controlled, with water polishing systems.
– Bhuler color Sorting Technology.
– Hurst Boiler Technology (American) converts rice hulls and other waste into energy for steam generation.
– State of the art Packaging and Bailing Systems.
– State of the art cleaning, sizing and Drying Systems.
– Storage Capacity of 7,000 Mt of Paddy.
– Access to a Wharfing Facility just 100 ft to the Demerara River.

Foundation Works have been done to expand the capacity of the Plant by 50%
