(From Arya Ali – First Lady of Guyana Facebook Page 1/2/21) As Guyana prepares for an influx of investors, it is critically important for them to recognize their role in helping to improve the lives of the Guyanese people.

I relayed this to the CEO of GO-Invest Mr Peter Ramsaroop when I met with him today to discuss areas for collaboration between our offices. I charged the CEO to ensure that when companies express their interest in investing here, they must also commit to fulfilling their corporate social responsibility.

Specifically, I asked him to explore the possibility of having these companies commit to employing persons with disabilities depending on the scale and nature of their investment. I also told him about my adopt-an-orphanage initiative which relies on the support of the private sector to assist orphanages which are underfunded.

Mr Ramsaroop welcomed these initiatives and committed his Office’s support. He was keen to note that GO-Invest prioritizes corporation social responsibility when engaging potential investors, since he too believes their presence here must benefit the people of this country.

Together we are working to build a better Guyana for all of us!
